CMA’s Solstice Party Returns on an Even Larger Scale

Sat 6/24 @ 7PM-midnight

Once again, the Cleveland Museum of Art presents its wildly popular Solstice Party, celebrating its 13th such event. The event returned last year after a 2020/21 pandemic break somewhat scaled own but this year it promises to be its biggest yet with a lineup of global performers from Cuba, Canada, Colombia, Spain and South Africa — reminiscent of their City Stages series but all on a single night.

The performances will take place outdoors on the museum’s south terrace, under huge art projections created by Kevin Jackson Projecting Mapping, based on the museum’s collection and the music being played. There, Afro-Cuban jazz ensemble OKAN (Cuba/Toronto), the Caribbean-influenced Bazurto All Stars (Colombia), Barcelona’s La Sra. Tomasa playing electronic/urban-influenced Latin music and headliner beat-heavy electronic dance act GoldFish from South Africa will play.

Inside in the Ames Family Atrium, where 3D-lit lanterns will create an alluring atmosphere, Cleveland dance party Sanctuary will feature DJ Red-I, DJ Nuera, DJ Mark Who? and DJ Selecta playing music for dancing.

Actually, you can dance to all of it, which is probably what you’ll be doing when you’re not eating, drinking and touring the galleries. All food and drink is included in the ticket price, with stations set up indoors and outside. The galleries will be open all night with “flash talks” by museum personnel. The event is 21 and over. Get more info and tickets here. You might want to act soon — this event frequently sells out, although they’ve released a bunch more tickets.
