Cleveland duo Night Terrors features the adventurous music of electric guitarist Tim Mirth and percussionist Paul Stranahan, who say their project is “a template of soundscapes and movements to take one through some kind of hazy, often scary, dream.”
Both musicians have played in a variety of projects and genres, which they bring to bear on the experimental approach taken by Night Terrors with its open-ended compositions that leave space for improvisation. Mirth uses extensive guitar effects, while Stranahan is known for expanding his drum kit with gongs and Tibetan singing bowls.
Mirth and Stranahan have both frequently collaborated with other players and their upcoming show at the BOP STOP brings on board a third player: guitarist Chris Bober, who adds still more dimensions to the already multi-dimensional music. In addition, Bober played on the new Night Terrors sophomore album, which will have its official release at this show. We’re also promised that Stranhan will debut a new instrument called the Aluphone, a melodic percussive instrument.
The show will be both live and livestreamed. Tickets to be in the venue are $10; listening on the BOP STOP’s Facebook page is free, although you’re encouraged to donate to the band at givebutter.com/NightTerrorsTrio
