Learn How to Fight for Reproductive Rights at Naral Pro-Choice Ohio’s Roe’d Show

In the last few years — nearly eight in Ohio — women’s rights have been under assault from politicians and other on the right who use their alleged “religious” beliefs — which should have no standing in laws impacting other people’s personal decisions anyway — to advocate for limiting a woman’s control of her own body and hence her own life.

Armed with lies (no, Planned Parenthood does not sell “baby parts”) and hypocrisy (a bill in the Ohio legislature criminalizing abortions if the fetus is diagnosed with Down Syndrome, yet defeating an amendment to provide resources to care for Down children), they have passed some 20 restrictions on a woman’s right to make her own decisions since John Kasich became governor.

Now, with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy retiring and Trump picking an anti-choice extremist (not the full extent of his issues!) Brett Kavanaugh as his replacement, many are understandably panicking about the future of Roe v. Wade, and how overturning it would return many states, such as Ohio, to the days of back alley and self-induced abortions, women’s deaths and women forced to have children they can’t afford plunged into poverty.

NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio has been fighting this battle for a long time, and it’s not about to stop. It’s currently in the midst of its statewide Roe’d Show to share information on what might lie ahead and what to do to try to stop it. Making sure to get out and vote for pro-choice candidates on November 6 should be at the top of your list.

The tour is coming to northeast Ohio this week. It’ll be at the Akron-Summit County Publi Library main branch Thu 8/23 and at the Shaker Heights Public Library main branch on Tue 8/28.

It’s free and open to all who believe women, and not pastors and politicians, should be making their own reproductive choices.
