Cleveland band Rellick describes itself as “cinematic rock,” a term famously used by another prominent local band, The Modern Electric, to describe a sweeping, widescreen approach to music. Rellick says that it “shares the story of the human condition”—that’s pretty sweeping!—“through diverse musical influences. They cite several, including Father John Misty, Goose, the Grateful Dead and Steely Dan, which indicates their ambitious approach to their sound and their roots in jam and prog rock, two ambitious genres.
But Rellick, which features Mike Rellick on vocals and guitar, Teddy Peterson on lead guitar, Brian Riha-Fink on bass and vocals, Shivani Shah on violin and vocals, and Evan Palermo on drums, is nothing if not ambitious. In the two years since they got together, they’ve done four multi-state tours and played more than 150 shows. They released their debut album, It’s Just One of Those Things, last year, and are already about to drop their second, Answer the Call, which they’ll celebrate with a show at the Grog Shop. Under High Street and Apostle Jones share the bill. Go HERE for tickets. Go HERE to learn more about the band.
