Violist Kirsten Docter was a 25-year member of the Cavani Quartet, based at the Cleveland Institute of Music where she formerly taught. Now she’s an associate professor at the Oberlin Conservatory, and collaborates with a wide range of musicians, performs at festivals and gives master classes.
For a Heights Arts Gallery Concert on Saturday October 3, she’ll be collaborating with the Pandan String Quartet, a young ensemble formed by Oberlin music students in 2023. Despite their youth, they’ve already performed extensively across the U.S. as well as in Singapore.
The evening’s program will include Austrian composer Josef Haydn’s 1797 String Quartet No. 63 in B flat major (“Sunrise”), Czech composer Antonin Dvořák’s 1893 String Quintet No. 3 in E flat major (“American”), and 58-year-old Chickasaw classical composer Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate’s 2013 Pisachi (“Reveal”).
The concert is free with open seating. “Come early to enjoy the gallery exhibitions or browse art and crafts by local artists in our store,” they suggest.
