Jazz/global music drummer/percussionist Jamey Haddad is a Cleveland native who, like many talented jazz musicians, blew the northeast Ohio dust off his feet and left the area for many years, before returning in the early 2000s to take a faculty job at Oberlin College.
He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston (where he later became a professor) and then settled in New York to build a career that has included more than two decades as a member of Paul Simon’s touring band and playing on hundreds of albums by an array of musicians in a variety of genres, from Yo-Yo Ma to Sting to fellow Cleveland native Joe Lovano.
Since returning home, Haddad has frequently graced local stages, especially the BOP STOP’s where he’ll be performing this Thursday. He typically gathers other musicians from his network of topflight players and he’s done so again: he’ll have Kip Red on bass, Chris Coles on saxophone and Ben Tweedt on piano. Go HERE for tickets.
