Mon 9/14 @ 7-9PM
The monthly career development workshop for musicians hosted by the nonprofit Cleveland Rocks: Past Present Future tackles a critical topic this month. “From EPK to the Stage: Booking Festivals and Venues” will share how musicians can best present themselves to land gigs in clubs and slots of festivals.
Two of the area’s busiest and most experienced musicians will share why they’ve managed to appear on so many big events and concert series. Singer/songwriter Brent Kirby is one of the busiest and most versatile musicians in town, performing as a solo artist, with his own band, with the rock band The Jack Fords, and with the Graham Parsons tribute band New Soft Shoe. He’s also does his long-running biweekly 10 x 3 band/songwriter showcases at the BOP STOP and has hired other bands as booker for special events, festivals and concert series. Maura Rogers performs with her own folk/rock ensemble Maura Rogers & the Bellows, and works as programming manager for Cleveland Rocks: Past Present Future.
The workshop, taking place at the Cleveland Rocks Shop on the Waterloo Arts District, is followed by the 2/x4 songwriter showcase. The event is free; go here to RSVP.
