Most of the summer concert series happening every Wednesday at Public Square through September 30 features some of the best bands in northeast Ohio: Americana, blues, jazz, Latin, rock. But this week, they’re bringing someone up from central Ohio who is no stranger to this area: Americana vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Angela Perley. With her former band the Howlin’ Moons, with whom she released five EPS and two full-length albums, she made many trips up to this area in the two-thousand-teens.
About seven years ago, she went solo continuing to blend various roots music influences into a spicy energetic mix which she’s showcased on a couple of live albums, Moonlight Audio Sessions and Live at Rumba Café, and as an opening act for artists such as Willie Nelson and Lucinda Williams. With her four-piece backup band, she’ll showcase familiar and new material to an audience that will likely include some of her Cleveland fans.
The opening act Cowboy Princess Brigade, who add a glam-rock twist to downhome Americana. The concert is free and open to all. There will be food trucks and a bar available, so make an evening of it.
