In addition to its string of natural areas for people to enjoy at their own pace, Cleveland Metroparks sponsors programs to guide visitors through them. One of those is a nature walk and artist talk called “Art in the Open,” a slow-paced immersive interaction with the landscape and art, giving visitors the chance to observe the landscape around them.

This week it will host such an event at the Garfield Park Reservation. It starts with a nature walk led by Metroparks staff, to allow the participants to immerse themselves in nature. That will be followed by an artist talk on “The Value of Soil” and hands-on activities led by sculptor Charmaine Spencer whose work in known for drawing on forms from nature for inspiration and using natural materials in their execution.
