Brazilian-born Cleveland singer/songwriter/guitarist Moises Borges and jazz vocalist/composer Ava Preston, who has just turned 21 and is currently finishing up her master’s degree at Juilliard in NYC, may come from different generations. But sparks fly when they take the stage together as they have previously at venues such as Riverdog Barn and the BOP STOP, where they return this week with the Moises Borges Quartet.
Borges was born in Bahai, but he has lived in Cleveland for decades. In that time, he’s has been lighting up area stages with his infectious music informed by the rhythms of his native country, such as bossa nova and samba. He performs a wide repertoire of pieces by noted Brazilian composers as well as his original music. Preston cut her teeth in Tri-C’s jazz program and in local clubs where she was performing even before she was in her teens. She’s been performing in New York clubs and recently won the 2026 International Ella Fitzgerald Jazz Vocal Competition.
Both experienced pros, they know how to blend their influences to make musical magic. Get tickets here. The concert will also be livestreamed on the BOP STOP’s YouTube channel.
