For more than four decades, the Akron African American Cultural Association has been presenting its annual African American Culttural festival, in recent years downtown at Akron’s Lock 3 next door to the Akron Civic Theatre.
It’s back there this weekend, with two days packed with vendors, entertainment, a chess tournament, health & wellness screenings and even free haircuts.
Saturday from 12:30-4pm is Youth Day, with activities such as a youth games competition, youth workout training, and line dancing. From 5-9pm there’s music from New Hope Baptist Church, Okomidu Rhythm of Love, Unit Band and Hubb’s Groove. On Sunday from 5-9pm Djapo Cultural Arts, Akron United We Funk and the Zapp Band perform.
Admission is free.
