Learn About Fireflies in an Outdoor Field at Dusk

Learn About Fireflies in an Outdoor Field at Dusk

Sat 6/27 @ 8:30-10PM

One of the most enchanting aspects of summer is the evening display of fireflies that peaks during dusk in July. Some of us will remember spending those evenings on the lawn chasing after those little flashing beetles.

Learn more about fireflies (or “lightning bugs,” as some call them) by joining a Summit Metro Parks naturalist for “Fabulous Fireflies” at the Downy Loop Trail at Wood Hollow Metro Park.  Out in nature, surrounded by their flashes, you can learn about their life cycle and their relationship to their environment. In addition, you can learn about the threats they’re facing and how to protect them. They’ll also provide jars for brief, up-close observations.

The program is free and open at all. Additional information is available at 330-865-8065.
