Fri 7/3 @ 5-8PM
Yes, there is a Walk All over Waterloo this Friday, despite it being a holiday weekend. And there will be music and art, and even a new show opening.
First the new: Deep Dive Art Projects’ Viewing Room, located in a house on East 156th Street just off Waterloo on the east side of the street, is presenting a show of new work on paper called Voices of Spring, the latest of several collaborations between Taryn McMahon and Aoife Mooney who have been co-creating since 2025. It expresses their shared interests in ecology, ecofeminism and reciprocity. The artists used found objects including plants, flagging tape and erosion netting to explore how plants communicate with the implications for the larger ecosystem.. The works include text and images, incorporating Mooney’s weavings and McMahon’s printmaking. Both ate on the faculty at Kent State University.
The show opens with a reception from 5-8pm Friday July 3 and will be on view through Sunday August 9.
Up the street Article Gallery will also be opening a new show, titled Finishing the Hats. It includes Bonnie Dolin’s “Ladies with Hats” and Easter bonnets by Gail and Annah Trunick. There will be an artist talk and audience participation hatmaking! That show will have receptions from 5:30-9PM on both July 3 and August 7, and will be on view through August 21.
You can also still catch Blooming Tides at Waterloo Arts. The show, curated by artist Davon Brantley, features work in diverse mediums by nine Black, Latin and AAPI artists including Nicole Alvarez, Ashton Burton, Liana Gonzalez, Yasmeen Kwan, Nick Lee, Younghyeon Ryu-Hurst, Sebastian Sosa, Lauren Sylvia and Jurnee Ta’Zion, exploring the interconnection and influence of their cultures between each other. Brantley will give an artist talk at 7pm. The show is on view through July 18.
