Oberlin Musical Theater Students Perform Kander & Ebb Revue at Playhouse Square

Sat 5/16 @ 7:30PM

Sun 5/17 @ 3PM

And The World Goes ’Round is a 1991 revue of songs written by John Kander (music) and Fred Ebb (lyrics), the team that wrote songs for musicals such as Cabaret, Chicago, Kiss of the Spider Woman and a dozen others, and penned songs for Liza Minnelli, including the now-standard “New York, New York.” The revue features some 30 songs, including “Cabaret,” “All That Jazz” and of course, “New York, New York.” It’s an opportunity for nonstop music and dancing.

This weekend, for two performances only, that show will be performed by the musical theater students of the Oberlin College and Conservatory at Great Lakes Theater’s Hanna Theatre at Playhouse Square. It’s an indirect tribute to Kander, who is a 1951 graduate of Oberlin College with a degree in — what else? — music. (Kander is still alive at the age of 99, although his partner Fred Ebb passed away in 2004 at 76.)
