Jackie Warren is the area’s premiere Latin jazz pianist, and she’s nearly always found onstage with timbales player Sammy DeLeon, Cleveland’s premiere Latin jazz bandleader, whether as a duo or part of a 16-piece orchestra. She’s lent her keyboard skills to other ensembles as well including the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra and 3D jazz Trio and has played with everyone who’s anyone in Northeast Ohio’s jazz scene.
So what’s a girl like that going to do on her birthday? Play some music, of course! And what kind of music and with whom? One guess! The Latin Jazz Quartet, co-led by Jackie and Sammy, will be holding court at the BOP STOP, with two of the area’s pre-eminent utility musicians, bassist Kip Reed and sax player Chris Burge, supporting them. Special guests are also promised and considering the network of these players they’re sure to be some of the area’s jazz elite.
Get tickets here. The concert will also be livestreamed on the BOP STOP YouTube channel.
