The Slovenian National Home has really upped its game in recent years, reminding people in this area of the many social, cultural, artistic and culinary treasures Slovenians brought to the region over the last nearly 150 years. We’re all looking forward to its 14th annual Kurentovanje festival on February 14, but you don’t have to wait that long to get a taste of Slovenian culture.
This week, the Slovenian National Home will be hosting the European Craft Beer Festival & Slovenian Beer Hall, to benefit its various cultural activities. More than a dozen local craft breweries (not all of them Slovenian!) will be offering four-ounce sample pours and 16-ounce pints, with Slovenian sausage, bratwurst and pierogi available in the kitchen and the bar will offer wine, Slivovitz, seltzers and soft drinks. Onstage in the ballroom, the Fešta Bend and North Coast Prost will be filling the ample dance floor with lively ethnic tunes.
Tickets are $10 at the door, with food and drink ala carte, with a $45 tasting ticket including admission and 20 four-ounce pours. Participating breweries include Bookhouse Brewing, the Brew Kettle, Collision Bend Brewing Company, Fat Heads Brewery, Great Lakes Brewing Co., Goldhorn Brewery, Market Garden Brewery, Masthead Brewing Co., Midnight Owl Brewing Co., Noble Beast Brewing Co., Schnitz Ale Brewery, Saucy Brew Works, Terrestrial Brewing Company, and Two Friends Brewing.
