You’d better act quickly if you want to warm yourself up to Apollo’s Fire’s Winter Sparks program: its Sunday concert at Rocky River Presbyterian Church is sold out and tickets are getting low for Friday’s concert at St. Paul’s in Cleveland Heights and Saturday’s concert at Federated Church in Chagrin Falls; there are wait lists. (Last time we looked they were still available for Thursday’s concert at First Methodist Church in Cuyahoga Falls.)
This program will feature nine musicians performing works by J.S. Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, and other, including oboeist Debra Nagy soloing on a Vivaldi concerto, and flutist Kathie Stewart and violinist Alan Choo featured in a performance of Bach’s Orchestral Suite no. 2. Cellist HyunKun Cho steps up for steals the thunder in French composer Marin Marais’ Sonnerie de Sainte Geneviève, which evokes Parisian church bells.
Nagy will also be doing the pre-concert talk, hosted by Choo, an hour prior to each concert.
