Ohio’s race for governor will be closely watched next year and offers one of the few chances we have to restore balance to Ohio state government.

It’s been almost a year since candidates from each party announced their runs— Cincinnati biotech billionaire Vivek Ramaswamy running for the GOP and physician and former Ohio State Health Director, Youngstown-born Dr. Amy Acton, running on the Democratic side. Both have been campaigning all year long and no strong candidates have stepped up to challenge them, although the rumors of former congressman Tim Ryan challenging Acton keep cropping up (It’s getting late!)

Acton first came to public attention in 2020 during the Covid pandemic when she tried to help Gov. DeWine make sense of what was going on, before she was pushed out by the very vocal anti-shutdown, anti-mask contingent. She’s been traveling extensively around the state making her case.
