You’ve barely had time to digest your Thanksgiving dinner, and now you’re being deluged with artist/maker events all over the place. It’s a reminder that your Black Friday weekend is best spent shopping from local creatives.
If you’re in the Akron area, you can celebrate Black Friday, Small Business Saturday AND Artists Sunday at Lock 3 downtown (next to the Akron Civic Theatre) when Summit Artspace and the Akron Bazaar team up to present a huge weekend of opportunities to support the local creative scene. Summit Artspace’s resident artists will be there in force, along with the regional makers from Akron Bazaar, a spinoff of the long-running (21 years!) Cleveland Bazaar. So they know quality when they see it.
The makers market will be running in tandem with the City of Akron’s holiday kickoff Winterblast on Friday from 11am-11pm, with a full day of ice skating, Archie the Snowman meet-and-greets, and the Welcome Santa Illuminated Parade stepping off at 6pm with floats, costumed characters and of course Santa and his helpers. And it’s followed by everyone’s favorite: fireworks! Winterblast is open all weekend as well.
