The annual One World Day, which has been held by the Cleveland Cultural Gardens since 1945, celebrates America the Diverse, highlighting the richness of our culture and community thanks to immigrants from all over the world.  And the diversity has grown in recent years with a flock of new gardens under development or on the drawing board, and more countries than ever taking part in the Parade of Flags. All of the gardens presented music, dance, food and crafts from their countries, with a special emphasis this year on textiles. As always one of the highlights was the Naturalization ceremony on the Centennial Peace Plaza as 27 beaming new citizens from all over the world received certificates and a handshake from the presiding judge, and prepared for one of their most important civic duties by registering to vote. Jesus said “Welcome the stranger” and Cleveland is doing just that.
