New Orleans Jazz Sax Player Branford Marsalis Performs at Oberlin College

Sax player/composer Branford Marsalis, who became widely known when he led the Tonight Show Band in the early-mid ’90s, hails from one of New Orleans’ most illustrious jazz families. His father, Ellis Marsalis Jr., was a noted music professor and pianist, and four of his six sons became a outstanding musicians and a virtual jazz band, with trumpeter Wynton, trombonist Delfeayo and drummer Jason. Branford’s projects have been numerous and diverse. In addition to performing with the Branford Marsalis  Quartet, he’s performed with symphonies, written Broadway music, and started a record label. He’s also an active educator who leads the Ellis Marsalis Center for Music in, appropriately, New Orleans.
