Fri 9/26 @ 7-8:30PM
Recently, the Cleveland Museum of Art opened a show called In Vino Veritas (In Wine, Truth), one view in its prints and drawings galleries through January 2026. In more than 70 prints, drawings, textiles and other works from Europe between 1450 and 1800, culled from museum’s own collection, the show explores what wine meant in various cultures and religions.
In conjunction with that show, the Cleveland Ballet will be presenting a performance at the museum of Walpurgisnacht, a festival celebrated on April 30 to mark the passage of winter into spring, known for what we might today call “heavy partying.” The ballet captures that sense of revelry. The ensemble will also perform Picnic, set to a group of Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky’s dances for piano and violin, and “Dance of the Toreadors” from Don Quixote.
Prior to the performance at 6pm, audience members can sip on (appropriately) a glass of wine outside Gartner auditorium, and at 6:20, the company’s artistic director Timour Bourtasenkov and CMA’s curator of prints and drawings Emily Peters will give a pre-concert talk. Get tickets here.
