Cleveland-based musician/artist Christa Ebert, who performs as Uno Lady, has built a portfolio of intriguing, boundary-pushing, sound-based projects over the last decade-and-a-half.
She first became known for performances in which she processed and layered her own voice, her only instruments, with electronic effects pedals. Since then she’s recorded spontaneous “outlaw” vocal performances in European cathedral, an experimental meditation film, and music made in Alaska, absorbing bird calls and tree percussion.
Lately she’s been using electronic signals from old-growth trees as springboards to her sonic endeavors. She recently did a residency at Akron Soul Train, based on this latest project. She’ll be performing the result at the Akron Art Museum. It’s free but registration is preferred. Go here.
