For more than 40 years, the Wickliffe Italian American Club has been hosting a major end-of-summer events: the Cleveland Challenge Cup of Bocce.

The three-day event attracts world-class players from across the country as well as Canada, with 120 teams this year competing for $34,000 in prize money.

It all starts with opening ceremonies at 3:45pm Friday, with the singing of the national of the U.S., Italy and Canada. Play starts immediately after that. Then all weekend visitors can watch the play and enjoy live bands, cultural exhibits, lots of good, including Italian specialties, and a full bar. Sunday is family day with Jungle Terry & friends and a magic show by Rick Smith Jr. The event ends on late Sunday afternoon with championship player starting around 4pm.
