There’s a new organization in town that aims to provide collaboration opportunities for photographers. Photo Cleveland, founded by Jim Szudy, one of the founder/directors of the now defunct Cleveland Photo Fest, and Cara Gaetano, will be hosting its first event in September.
They’re sponsoring a juried show, taking place at the Brownhoist, called Ghost Cities: Documenting Decay, focusing on the trendy subject sometimes dubbed “ruin porn.” It’s inviting both local and national photographers to submit up to three entries apiece for a submission fee of $35.
They say, “Photography needs to be the prominent medium. While digital editing is accepted, the finished product should still appear like a photo, not a painting, sketch, etc.” They add that short films/videos are also welcome.
Submissions are due by August 6. For more details on submitting go to www.photocleveland.org
The show opens Saturday September 6 with a reception from 6-9pm.
