Sat 7/5 @ 7-11PM
Once again, it’s time to swing your partner at the Family Life Center in Chagrin Falls during the July edition of the Bainbridge Swing Dance.
The evening starts at 7pm with a one-hour dance lesson, so those who never tried swing dancing before can learn the steps, and those who have can brush them up. It’s a friendly situation where old hands help newbies.
Then at 8pm everyone hits the dance floor for two hours of dancing to a live band. And this month’s band features some of the most talented and experienced musicians in the area. Bent String features noted area players including guitarist Kevin Richards, bassist Ray DeForest, violinist Reed Simon, accordion player Caroline Kibng and vocalist Kari Ann Rutushin, performing early country and jazz, acoustic blues and their own originals in that vein. It’s lively music meant for dancing.
And the dances have added a new feature recently. For those who aren’t tired out, stay for an additional hour of
“Electro Swing” and dance to a recorded playlist from 10-11pm.
Come alone, come with a partner or come with the family. Dancers trade partners all night long, so you’ll meet lots of new friends. And yes, it us family-friendly — kids are very welcome.
