There isn’t a whole lot about the 1984 Bill Murray/Dan Ackroyd/Harold Ramis movie Ghostbusters that’s rooted in actual science. But the film about a trio who form a business to eliminate ghosts because a huge hit and one of those movies that became an enduring cultural reference point, spawning jokes, memes and Halloween costumes.
The Cleveland Museum of Natural History is screening the film as part of its Movie Night series. But there’s more to the evening. Moviegoers can also take in CMNH’s exhibits after hours, enjoy a snack from the museum’s Origins Café, and even visit the Perkins Wildlife Center, weather permitting. Don’t let the playful otters detain you from seeing the film, which starts at 7pm in Murch Auditorium with a member of NASA’s Ghost buster team introducing it. You’ll also be able to meet NASA Ghostbusters, see the Ectomobile (the converted Cadillac ambulance used by the Ghostbusters team in the movie), and learn if there actually was a scientific basis for anything in the movie.
If you purchase general admission for Friday July 18, no further ticket is needed to catch the movie. Seating is first come, first served.
