Film Explores Injustice of U.S. Justice System

Sat 3/9 @ 7PM

It’s no secret that the amount of “justice” a person can expect in the U.S. depends on the amount of resources one has, as well as the color of one’s skin. The film Healing Justice, produced by racial justice organization World Trust Educational Services, looks at how that justice system works and how it impacts marginalized communities. It explores the history of violence that pervades it and how that’s connected to personal, community and intergenerational trauma, the impact of the so-called “school-to-prison pipeline” on already disempowered communities, and how the criminal justice system can be reformed to make communities stronger and healthier.

The film will be screened at West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church in Rocky River, part of West Shore’s film series focusing on social action. It’s free and open to the public. Go here for more information.
