Sign the Reproductive Rights Petition NOW & Vote NO on August 8 to Pass it in November

As Secretary of State, Frank LaRose is Ohio’s top elections official. And he really really REALLY doesn’t want your vote to matter. He was the one who first proposed raising the percentage of vote required to pass a citizen-originated constitutional amendment from 50% to 60% via a low-turnout August election, something he advocated for abolishing earlier this year.

This week, we learned that the two-faced LaRose admitted something he’s been staunchly denying: it’s all about defeating the reproductive freedom issue in November, as he told a Republican gathering  in Seneca County a couple of weeks ago. “It’s 100% about keeping a radical pro-abortion amendment out of our constitution,” said LaRose.

And he’s hoping you won’t turn out in August to vote NO, while his lobbyist/special interest pals pour money into trying to convince people to vote yes and strip themselves of the last shred of citizen influence in Ohio government, while defeating reproductive rights in November. Don’t fall for it. Ohio Republicans held a secret meeting in Columbus with their lobbyist pals on May 31 to talk about the big money they’re going to spend to try to convince you a “yes” vote is about protecting the Ohio constitution from big-money special interests. You know — like themselves. In fact, in this heavily gerrymandered state, being able to amend the constitution — the right they want to abolish — is our last remaining way to make our voices heard in Ohio.

Meanwhile, to get reproductive freedom on the November ballot, there are only a few more weeks to collect signatures. Go here to find out where you can sign if you haven’t already. And check to make sure you’re registered for the August election: the last day is July 10. In-person early voting starts July 11. You might not want to wait. Who knows what tricks LaRose will pull next.
