Local Master Printmaker Talks About Her Work Inspired by a Trip to Taiwan

Wed 4/6 @ 7PM

Karen Beckwith, a Cleveland Institute of Art graduate, is one of the area’s noted printmakers. Based in Cleveland, she’s travelled and exhibited internationally.

In the spring of 2021, she traveled to Taiwan to participate in an international print exhibit. Everything there was still closed down due to the pandemic. She spent her time there exploring the county’s nooks and crannies and taking photos to become the basis of a body of printworks.

“As a printmaker and collector of visual information, I am always looking for layers of meaning in everyday scenes,” she says. “It gave me time to investigate, look deeper, and ultimately create.”

She’ll talk about her trip and that work in a virtual program hosted by Artists Archives of the Western Reserve, where she’s an archived artist. In the program Travels to Taiwan: A Journey in Prints, Beckwith will discuss the trip and how it inspired the work.

It’s free. Go to artistsarchives.org to register.
