Sun 12/12 @ 4PM
Although Cleveland vocalist Debbie Gifford can slide her agile voice into pop, Latin and R&B music, opera and musical theater, everything she sings has a tinge of jazz, her real passion. She’s performed her versatile show at festivals and clubs across the U.S. Canada, Europe and Asia including such noted venues as the Birdland Jazz Club in NYC. And of course, she’s performed with the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra and at the Tri-C JazzFest. She’s releases five CDs that showcase her impressive range and intuitive grasp of a song’s core.
She’ll be bringing her pipes to bear on holiday favorites — along with standards, blues, funk and pop tunes — when she and her small combo set up at the BOP STOP for Tis the Season to Be Jazzy. She’ll be joined by ubiquitous local pianist Joe Hunter, former Ray Charles bassist Roger Hines, and drummer Ricky Exton, a former Tri-C High School All-Star, Berklee College graduate and session and side musician for a host of jazz and pop musicians.
Tickets for the in-person show (masks and vax card/recent negative COVID test required) are $15. You can also watch the stream on the BOP STOP’s Facebook page for free; donations are encouraged at givebutter.com/DebbieGifford.
