Global Cleveland Hosts Immigrant “Welcoming Week”

Fri 9/10-Sun 9/19

To show just how welcoming Cleveland is, Global Cleveland’s Welcoming “Week” is actually ten days long! Each day the City of Cleveland will fly a different nationality flag — Italian, Korean, Nepali, Egyptian and more — while a plethora of events will be taking place, both online and in-person.

In-person events include the 3rd annual Lakewood Community Festival on Saturday September 11 @ 11am-5pm, celebrating the cultures of northeast Ohio’s most diverse community; an inter-faith service at the Cleveland Public Library’s East Reading Garden downtown on Monday September 13 @ noon; and a naturalization ceremony September 16.

The movie Welcome Stranger will be screening online all week; Pickwick & Frolic will be hosting a raffle drawing; the Cleveland Public Library is offering a list of international authors to check out; chef Doug Katz will do a cooking demo; and there will be a Big Global Cleveland 10-Year Anniversary announcement live on Facebook starting Tuesday September 14 @ 9am.

That’s just scratching the surface. The week offers many more ways to discover how immigrants enrich Cleveland’s cultural fabric. Go to globalcleveland to learn more.
