There may be no oceans anywhere near northeast Ohio but the colorful life found among ocean reefs fascinates Kent-area artist Grace Nestor-Louie, who works in oils, drawn to their vivid colors.
Though she’s self-taught she’s drawn and painted her whole life, and last year, she took the plunge of quitting her day job and dedicating herself to painting, thanks to a supportive husband. And ailurophiles, take note: she says “I am now blessed to spend my days in my home studio painting with my cat where I stream on Twitch.”
She’ll be sharing her work in a show called Explore the Reef at the Standing Rock Cultural Arts’ North Water Street Gallery in Kent. The show opens with a reception Friday August 27 @ 7-9pm; it remains on view through September 25. Gallery hours are Wednesday-Saturday @ 1-5pm.
