Local Jazz Fusion Quintet Releases New Album With Live Streamed BOP STOP Performance

Sat 2/20 @ 8PM

Sax player Matthew Alec studied both classical music and jazz while getting his degree in music at Kent State University. He performed with Akron soul rockers Winslow who made a splash in the local music scene from 2005 through 2016 and also toured extensively, and during that time, recorded a pair of solo albums.

Once that band called it a day, he formed jazz-fusion quintet Matthew Alec and the Soul Electric in 2017, playing music he describes as a blend of jazz, funk, pop and soul. And last year this go-getter he formed his own label called Cleveland Time Records to promote northeast Ohio jazz artists.

Matthew Alec and the Soul Electric are now releasing their debut album, also called Cleveland Time, with a release show live streamed from the BOP STOP. Give it a listen here. The show is free to listen to but donations for the band will be warmly welcomed! Donate to the band here.
