MoCa Sponsors Screening of Film About the Central Neighborhood

Thu 9/10 @ 6-8PM

The film Bridging the Gap by Clevelander Walter Payton takes on the history of the city’s Central neighborhood, both good and bad, its challenges and its promise.

It features the voices of residents of all ages and experiences in interviews conducted by Payton. And it spotlights projects going on to uplift the community, including Rid-All Urban Farm, Fresh by Nature Records, the FreshLo One Garden Valley Initiative that focus on high-quality food and the arts. The film features original works by Payton and youth poets from the King Kennedy Boys and Girls Club Baby Lit Hip Hop program and the FreshLo (Fresh, Local, and Equitable) One Garden Valley Initiative, led by Environmental Health Watch.

MoCa Cleveland is presenting the film and a discussion free on Facebook Live. The film screens at 6pm, followed by performances by Payton and Sam Flowers at 6:45 and a panel discussion and Q&A at 6:50. Panel members include Payton, Environmental Health Watch executive director Kim Foreman, community activist Sonya Sherhard, Central resident Demetrius Carter, ZRi, FreshLo team lead, and Samantha Flowers of Fresh by Nature Records.
