Local Experimental Duo Plays Live Streamed Concert from the BOP STOP

Wed 8/5 @ 8PM

Musicians Paul Stranahan and Stephan Haluska are both well known in Cleveland experimental circles. They’re regulars on experimental music bills, performing with many other musicians in various configurations.

Stranahan, who plays gongs, singing bowls, marimba and an array of percussion and drums, has played jazz with the Paul Stranahan Trio, “avant/fusion with PSI-Paul Stranahan’s Insomnia and experimental improvisational music with Night Terrors. He’s recorded with such stalwarts of the local improvisational/freeform scene as Lisa Miralia, Mike Hovancsek, and Haluska.

Haluska brings to that scene an element you don’t often find there: he plays harp — the big, stringed kind, not the mouth harp. He composes traditional music for his instrument as well as exploring non-traditional ways of using it, including electronic processing, tools and altering the instrument in various ways.

The duo will perform a live-streamed concert from the BOP STOP Wednesday August 5. Go to the Facebook event page to listen.
