Mulberry Creek Herb Farm Hosts Scaled-Down, More Casual Herb Fair

Tue 6/23-Sun 6/28

One of the highlights of the year at Mulberry Creek Herb Farm in Huron is their annual herb fair in late June, who puts a cap on the planting season. Each year, they choose a theme to tie together the vendors, food offerings and workshops, and this year was supposed to be New Orleans. We could hardly wait because we love New Orleans.

We’ll have to wait until 2021 for that, because it’s been postponed. But that doesn’t mean there’s nothing at all happening at Mulberry Creek that weekend. Instead of a two-day festival with a meadow packed with vendors, a food tent jammed with happy eaters and a crowd in the pavilion for workshops, they’re using a different model: scaled down and spread out of over a week.

This year’s theme is victory gardens, a tip of the hat to all the folks who decided this year was the perfect time to start growing their own vegetables. Their own display garden has been turned into a vegetable-heavy space, and there will be regular tours led by staff starting Tuesday June 22 and running through Sunday June 28. Their plant sale will also be happening then, so it’s your chance to grab one of the last of those pepper, eggplant or squash plants. Bring a picnic; there’s plenty of room to spread out your blanket and eat. There’ll be a food truck or two on Saturday and Sunday, along with a handful of vendors. The kids will enjoy looking at the fairy gardens and miniature train.

Hours are 10am-5pm Tuesday-Saturday, and 10am-4pm Sunday. Admission is free.
