Comics Artist Tom Batiuk Speaks at Cleveland Stories at the Music Box

Wed 10/23 @ 7PM

Northeast Ohio cartoon artist Tom Batiuk’s work is known nationally from his long-time syndicated comic strips Funky Winkerbean and Crankshaft. While based here, his work is carried in hundreds of newspapers, and his 2008 book Lisa’s Story, about one of his character’s losing battle with breast cancer, was a Pulitzer Prize finalist.

Batiuk will be the guest at the Music Box Supper Club’s weekly Cleveland Stories series, where he’ll talk about how his characters came about and why he depicts them the way he does. The free programs also feature a three-course fixed price dinner for $20, themed to the evening’s topic. Since this week’s is comics, it includes popcorn bisque, open face roast beef and a peanuts sundae. Doors open at 5.
