Pennsylvania’s Grkman Family Brings the Polka to Kirtland’s SNPJ Farm

Sun 7/7 @ 2PM

We’ve just been informed that “Grkmania” will be “sweeping the SNPJ Farm” this Sunday. And if you know anything about this long-time Slovenian institution in Kirtland you know that means … polka!

Joe Grkman Jr and Mike Grkman lead the western Pennsylvania-based family band, founded 52 years ago by Joe Grkman Sr. Button and piano accordions join with bass, guitar, banjo, drums, keyboards, clarinet and sax to create their version of the “happiest sound around,” Slovenian or Cleveland-style polka.

A traditional Slovenian dinner will be served from 2-4pm with sandwiches and refreshments available throughout the day. The band takes the stage at 3pm for four hours of polkas and waltzes to fill the dance floor. There will also be a presentation and birthday cake honoring SNPJ’s founding 115 years ago.

Admission is $8; 18 and under are free.
