Akron Art Library Introduces New Pieces to Borrow

Thu 6/6 @ 6PM

In a collaboration between the Akron Art Museum and the Akron-Summit County Library, 10 new original pieces will be added to the Akron Art Museum art library and unveiled during a party/ice cream social. The free event will take place on Thu 6/6 @ 6pm at the Akron Art Museum. The new pieces will be added to the existing selection of 27 works.

“The art library is one of the myriad ways that the museum is expanding access to art in our community. It draws people’s awareness to the fact that there are great working artists in our area and is an encouragement to explore collecting art through relationships with artists and galleries. We are proud to partner with the library to bring this innovative resource to Akron,” says director and CEO Mark Masuoka.

Visitors will have a chance to meet the artists, engage in hands-on activities experimenting with different art techniques, and be given the first opportunity to borrow the new pieces. These new additions challenge the distinction between two-dimensional and three-dimensional art through experimenting with textiles. The entire collection ranges greatly from paintings, prints, photography and mixed-media from local, regional and international artists. Anyone with a Summit County library card is eligible to check-out artworks for up to four weeks at a time from the Akron-Summit County Public Library Main Library.

Refreshments and free ice cream will also be served.
