Melodic Metal Band Olathia Celebrates Sophomore Release with Two Shows

Fri 5/17 @ 8PM

Sat 5/18 @ 8PM

Cleveland-based melodic metal band Olathia made its debut in late 2014, after riveting vocalist/frontwoman Chris Emig’s previous project Cellbound broke up after seven years and two albums.

Olathia’s first recording, the seven-song EP Hunters, came out in the spring of 2015, revealing music that was still intensely heavy but with a strong groove flowing underneath hypnotic melodies. The band hasn’t been inactive, but they’ve had some personnel changes, so it’s taken a while for a follow-up. But now it’s here: Olathia will release its new record Snake Charmer this week. Dark, driving and thrashy, they crank out a sound that’s both old school and up-to-the-minute.

They’ll have not one but TWO big release shows, one on Friday at the Foundry in Lakewood with Icarus Witch and Dead Earth, and one on Saturday at the Maplegrove Tavern in Maple Heights with Whorehound and Bound by Fate. Each starts at 8pm with a listening party; Olathia will perform a different set each night. Tickets are $10 in advance, $13 at the door. Advance tickets include a download code. Snag them here.
