Funny, Absurd, and Short: Shortform Returns to Maelstrom Collaborative Arts

Thu 5/16-Sat 5/18 @ 7:30PM

This May, Maelstrom Collaborative Arts will produce another installment of Shortform, an anthology of live art that gets to the point. Artists from all over the creative spectrum showcase original performances that are funny, absurd, experimental and, above all, short. Coined as “tapas-style,” the only rule is that performances must be 10 minutes or less.

This sensory-overloaded and quick moving artistic experience is a great way to be introduced to the many disciplines Cleveland’s arts scene has to offer.

“We want Shortform to feel like a collection of short stories or short films, constantly changing in mood, tone and content,” says Executive Artistic Director Jeremy Paul. “One minute, you might be watching a spoken word poet, the next you’re in the middle of an experimental music set. Despite the fast pace, each ShortForm has a loose theme that ties the works together, giving it a kaleidoscopic quality that feels varied, personal, and always fresh.”

Shortform takes place at Maelstrom Collaborative Arts Headquarters on Thursday May 16 through Saturday May 18. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online here or at the door. Doors at 7pm, show starts at 7:30pm.
