Fri 5/24-Sat 8/31
While the Cleveland Metroparks have always hosted live music at locations such as Lookabout Lodge, their summertime free concert offerings have grown exponentially in recent years. Their biggest outdoor series is Edgewater Live which attracts thousands to the lakefront each Thursday @ 4:30-9PM for two months to enjoy bands, the beach, and food and drink offerings from more than a dozen local food trucks.
It kicks off Thu 5/30 with Breakfast Club’s 80s rock, and runs through Thu 8/1 with the Prince Project, a Prince tribute band. Thu 6/13 should be one of the biggest nights when Cleveland reggae star Carlos Jones & the P.L.U.S. Band bring their uplifting mix of classic and original reggae tunes. The following week, Thu 6/20, catch some original indie rock from Front Porch Lights.
Another of the Metropark’s longer-running series is the one at Euclid Beach on Fridays @ 6-9pm, which opens on Fri 5/31 with the classic rock of the Mourning Glory band, and concludes on Fri 8/2 with Russell Thompson & the Free Agent Band playing some jazz. Heavy on Motown and R&B, the highlight of the series could be the appearance on Fri 6/28 of the Kinsman Dazz Band All Stars with Just Charnise.
For those looking for a more laidback event, concerts return to Stinchcomb Memorial in the Rocky River Reservation Wednesdays in July @ 6-8pm. And Lookabout Lodge has a Sunday series @ 6-8pm 7/7-8/11 with acts such as original Americana band Hey Mavis 7/14, Bob Frank of Blue Lunch playing acoustic blues 7/21 and rockabilly band Haywire closing it out on 8/11.
There’s a variety of music taking place this year on Fridays @ 6-9pm at the Emerald Necklace Marina starting 5/24 and running through 8/30. Among the diverse sounds are polka music from Those Guys 6/14, country by Bobby St. Vincent, 6/21, indie folk/pop by Michelle Romary 6/28, and roots/Americana from local swamp rockers Cats on Holiday 7/26.
Cats on Holiday also open another waterfront series at the East 55th Street Marina on Sat 5/25 @ 6-9pm. That series features mostly rock cover bands and runs through 8/31.
