Learn to write, draw, and even sculpt comics at Lake Erie Ink’s 7th annual Kid’s Comic Con. This one-of-a-kind comic con unites over a hundred young comic book lovers and connects them with successful writers and illustrators to lead youth-based workshops. Covering every aspect of comic book creation, workshops offer kids the opportunity to be creative and even gain advice from professionals visiting from all over Northeast Ohio.
Keynote speaker is Marc Sumerak, Bowling Green State graduate who went on to be a Marvel Comics staff member, working on over 500 comic publications as an assistant editor, including the well known storylines of Avengers, Iron Man, Fantastic Four and more. Marc will be joined by nearly 20 other comic book professionals, helping in Lake Erie Ink’s mission to provide spaces for expression and learning. This is just one of the nonprofit’s year-round events and programs, including open mic nights, college essay workshops and more.
Costumes are encouraged! This event is for kids ages 8-18, adults if accompanied by child, and teachers with a staff ID. Buy your $10 ticket or apply for a scholarship here. The convention will be taking place at Lake Erie Ink’s headquarters in Cleveland Heights. Doors open at 9:30am, with workshops running from 10am-3pm.
