Ensemble Theatre Stages NE Ohio Premiere of Steinbeck’s “East of Eden”

Fri 10/19-Sun 11/11

The work of Nobel Prize-winning 20th century novelist John Steinbeck was known for its concern with the struggles of those at the bottom of the socio-economic ladder and how they coped with relationships given their powerlessness.

His 1952 novel East of Eden looks at the travails of two extended families, primarily in California’s Salinas Valley in the early decades of the 20th century. There’s murder, betrayal, fortunes won and lost, family feuds and more. Somehow, Frank Galati adapted this huge book for Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre a few years ago. Now Ensemble Theatre will be giving it its northeast Ohio premiere.

It runs Fridays and Saturdays @ 8pm and Sundays @ 2pm through Sunday 11/11 in Ensemble’s Main Stage Theatre. Tickets are $12-$29.
