Author James Robenalt Talks About How Race Shaped Cleveland in the 60s at the Hudson Library

Mon 8/27 @ PM

Cleveland lawyer/historian/author James Robenalt has written extensively about Ohio history, as well as a volume about Richard Nixon and the Watergate scandal that is sadly relevant today.

His most recent book, Ballots and Bullets: Black Power Politics and Urban Guerrilla Warfare in 1968 Cleveland, looks at the events surrounding the 1968 Glenville uprising and the election of Carl Stokes as the first black mayor of a major American city. He explores the climate of the ’60s that led to both events and the impact they had. Read our columnist C. Ellen Connally’s review of the book here.

Robenalt will be at the Hudson Library and Historical Society to talk about the book and sign them Copies will be available for purchase courtesy of Judson’s Learned Ol Book Shop. The program is free; register at hudsonlibrary.org or call 330-653-6658 x1010.
