Planned Parenthood Holds a Beach Party for Women’s Rights at Edgewater Park

Sat 6/23 @ 6-9PM

Here’s something it’s important to tell any of your friends who aren’t following Ohio politics or who aren’t clear on the vast distinction between progressive Democrat Rich Cordray and far-right Republican Mike DeWine. DeWine isn’t just anti-abortion. He was one of the key players in bringing the Hobby Lobby case to the U.S. Supreme Court, which said that corporations can deny women access to contraception in their health care plans, if it’s against the corporation’s religious beliefs. (It reminds us again how much we need to declare that corporations are NOT people.)

Ohio has already voted to defund Planned Parenthood, the main source of health care for a significant number of women, based on a fabrication. (No, no one was “selling baby parts.”) Planned Parenthood provides an enormous range of programs and services, including ones which reduce infant mortality — you know, those actual BORN infants some of our legislators seem to not care about so much.

Luckily, the support for Planned Parenthood seems to be growing (their huge delegation in the Pride Parade a few weeks ago was greeted with cheers all along the route). You too can stand with Planned Parenthood Northeast Ohio and Planned Parent Advocates of Ohio at a beach party fundraiser at Edgewater Park. The goal is to raise money to send volunteers to the national Power of Pink training event in Detroit 6/27-29. There will be games, food, non-alcoholic beverages and lots of like-minded people who support women’s reproductive rights to bond with.

There’s no ticket price. You can donate any amount you can afford at bit.ly/PowerofPinkFundraiser.
