Coventry Knitwear Pop-Up Shops Hosts Book Event With Local Artists/Authors

Fri 12/1 @ 5-7PM

Come meet local four author/artists with ties to the area’s music scene at the Knitwear Pop-up Shop in Coventry Village where they will be signing newly released books at a wine and beer reception.

Independent graphic designer and former Free Times art director Ron Kretsch put together Dead Boys 1977: The Lost Photographs of Dave Treat, a book of photos by Treat who lived in the same building as the seminal punk band’s singer Stiv Bators, and took photos that until recently hadn’t been seen before. Both Treat and Kretsch will be signing books.

Graphic artist John G’s work has appeared on numerous concert flyers, as well as on posters for Melt Bar and Grilled. It’s the latter that comprise his new volume, Sandwich Anarchy, a collection of his “greatest hits” for Melt.

And Anastasia Pantsios has just released a book based on her photo show at the Rock Hall, Girls to the Front: 40 Years of Women in Rock, which was on view earlier this year. It features 54 photos of women musicians from Grace Slick to Tina Turner to Debbie Harry to Ani DiFranco, mostly shot in Cleveland.

Coventry Road indie bookseller Mac’s Backs will be bringing in the books to purchase for the artists to sign. The event is free.
