Sat 6/11 @ noon
Parade the Circle stands apart from other big area parades. There are no businesses brandishing their logos; there are no politicians looking to get their name out to a large crowd. It’s strictly non-commercial and nonpartisan.
And it’s eagerly awaited each year by many in the greater Cleveland community — and for many it’s not about just the day, it’s about the preparation. Weeks of workshops lead up to the event which features floats, costumes, props, masks and puppets, all created by local artists, kids, families and community groups.
The parade, sponsored by the Cleveland Museum of Art for 26 years, steps off at noon and makes its way around Wade Oval. The theme this year — they always have a theme — is Temonos, a sacred space. (Yes, the themes can be a tad abstract, all the better to stimulate the imagination). Once the marching is done, head over to the Circle Village which will be open from 11am-4pm where there will be food, performers and activities of all sorts. It’s all free.
