Young vocalist Shekinah “CoCo” Smith is still in school but she’s already got quite a resume going. The 2012 Cleveland Central Catholic High School graduate is a musical theater major at New York’s American Musical and Dramatic Academy College and Conservatory of Arts. She’s got a list of credits as a performer and choreographer that includes Near West Theatre, the Garfield Players, the Ohio City Theater Project and the Cleveland Play House.
The ambitious artist says in her bio, “CoCo plans to return to Cleveland to teach acting technique and musical theatre analysis after a successful Broadway career.” Good luck to her!
Before she becomes a Broadway star, she’s coming home to Cleveland to perform a solo show at Nighttown, accompanied by pianist Bryan Bird, who’s also got a long list of local credits, including numerous gigs at the Beck Center.
Tickets are $15.
